Ventura County

Classical Guitar Society

Sept 30, 2009

Guest: Jeff Linsky

Good friends and brother, Steve Linsky, joined us to hear guest artist Jeff Linsky perform for the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society.  Mr. Linsky is able to improvise  many  blues pieces, classical repertoire and popular theme music such as Cavatina from Deer Hunter.

Jeff asked our own  Jerry McGuire to play his concertina.  Jerry played  Ashokan Farewell, accompanied by Jeff.

There were questions from the audience about guitar playing.  Jeff stressed  how important it is to know chord structure.  He invited anyone interested in a workshop to notify him.

The program ended with Brazilian music.

Early in the evening, The Wednesday Night Quartet played Las Mananitas, followed by

Larry playing Queen Elizabeth’s Galliard, by John Dowland. Mark Carlile performed Allegretto, by Torroba.  Tommy Gunn  was followed by Steve Bernd playing John Doan's Farewell.  Study in A was done by Westan Ehad.  And Juanita Wooten played Study #2, by Mateo Carcassi.  Tim Buley played 2 selections.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 28th; and our guest will be Ben Bolt.  The meeting begins at 7PM.
