Joe LoPiccolo (R),

Vahagn Turgutyan (L)

Our May meeting was held on the 27th at the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Parks Senior Center, in Camarillo.  Visit our home page for directions and about past and future meetings.  The clickable ‘albums’ above lead to photos from the evening, and also video excerpts.  The video requires Quicktime, a free download for either Mac or PC.

Our guests for the evening were Joe LoPiccolo and Vahagn Turgutyan.  Click for their websites and music.  Joe LoPiccolo comes from a Blues background, and Vahagn Turgutyan from a Flamenco background.  Both have CD recordings.

Our meeting began with volunteers from the floor.  The program for the evening is below...

Second Hour

Our guests for the second hour played improvisational pieces, mostly composed by Joe LoPiccolo, some by Vahagn Turgutyan.  The pieces have a beginning and ending structure based on a theme or tune, while 90% of the middle is improvised.

They provided great entertainment, and it was very well received by the audience.  Both live in the Southern California area, teach, and have solo CDs.  See their bios on their websites.

Our guests for June 2009 will be Michael Nigro, guitar (he has played for us several times) and Lisa Schroeder, flute.  They will perform as Noteworthy Duo
